Let’s Go Crazy – Prince and the Revolution / 1984
Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016)
With heavy hearts, the music world was delivered a blow of the announcement of the death of Prince. The 57 year-old was found unresponsive in an elevator at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota on Thursday morning.
A virtuoso instrumentalist and a musical genius, the world mourns the loss of of a pop superstar who truly went against the flow of the stream.
With a career that spanned nearly four decades, he will not be remembered solely for his music. Much like David Bowie, he was a showman; adorned in ruffled collars, sequins, smoky eye makeup and high heeled boots and was a pop culture icon.
Prince sold over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. He won seven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, the first year of his eligibility. He won an Oscar for the original song score to the classic film “Purple Rain”.
Get Leashed pays tribute to the musical enigma – to the artist formerly known as Prince. This is what it sounds like when doves cry. May you forever rest in peace.
