On August 9th, the St. Louis Cardinals vs. the Kansas City Royals Game got a little furry and exciting in the sixth inning. As Yadier Molina hit a grand slam into left field, the entire stadium spotted something little, grey, and ferocious running through the field. The crowd erupted and the players thought there was a problem with the scoreboard, but as they made aware of their surroundings, everyone saw the kitten running earnestly. The little kitten made it to outfield and hung out with outfielder, Lorenzo Cain of the Royals.

🎶Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur … 🎶

The best part, however, was when a member of the Busch Stadium grounds had to run and grab the kitty off the field. The kitty was not happy with being taken away and bit him repeatedly. Poor guy (the employee, not the kitty).

We’re not quite sure what the kitty’s mission was, but we think he wanted to be a part of the action. And he stole everyone’s attention!

But after his little stunt, this little kitty became the Rally Cat for the St. Louis Cardinals. He even made the Jumbotron!

But he couldn’t stay at the stadium.

After his eventual capture despite his many efforts to be freed, our little Rally Cat went to the St. Louis Feral Cat Outreach (STLFCO).

The celebrity kitty accepted his defeat and the volunteers coddled him silly. The STLFCO and the Cardinals even created an event for the Rally Kitty!

The St. Louis Cardinal added the Rally Cat Appreciation Day to the 2017 Theme Ticket schedule! Fans received a special kitty themed ticket AND a Rally Cat-themed Cardinals shirt.

The little Rally Cat had no idea that he rejuvenated the team and the fans. He was too busy trying to escape again. (Just kidding, he was just looking for cuddles).

The Rally Cat lifted the player’s moods during his sixth inning entrance.

After Yardier Molina’s grand slam, the kitty aided in the Cardinals’ win. The Cardinals beat the Royals 8-5 after Rally Cat’s appearance!

Peter Moylan, one of the relievers for the Royals, turned to see the little kitten running and was surprised. It was a first for him.

The kitten went for Lorenzo Cain and went for the hills! Thus, the employee thwarted his plan and he fought with all of his might.

The little free-running kitten didn’t surprise Lorenzo at all. He was bemused with his effort to get to the other side.

I think we learned an important lesson from Rally Cat.

Even though the Kansas Royals were on a losing streak, the silly kitty brightened their night a little with his voyage across the field.

St. Louis won’t just be known for it’s magnificent arch or its baseball team, now the Rally Cat has taken his title and it’s a win from us!

The St. Louis Cardinals might just have to consider changing their mascot to the Rally Cat because he brought them good luck!

Our adorable friend Rally Cat is now adopted and part of the proceeds from his Rally Cat-themed tickets went to Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) and the STLFCO! What a champ!
