Miranda Lambert is no stranger to rescues. At her home or even on the road she is never without a rescued animal. The 33-year-old country star responded to the tragedy in Houston with MuttNation, her own foundation, to transport as many dogs as possible to Oklahoma. Lambert did not take a backseat to the rescue. She went with her foundation and volunteers to help save as many dogs as they could.

She housed a mother and her pups in her tour bus. She even affectionately named the mama dog Ashley after singer Ashley Monroe who just had her baby! Mutt Nation Foundation rescued 72 dogs in one day and transported them to shelters across the country.

Hurricane Harvey left a trail of destruction across Texas. High wind speeds and high water levels left residents prisoners of their homes. Families sat on their roofs, parents did anything to protect their children, and others had to wait in water-filled buildings for rescue efforts.

In a mad scramble to bring people to safety, many pets were forgotten or tied during the Hurricane. But, rescues like Mutt Nation and animal lovers like Miranda Lambert made the effort to rescue them.

MuttNation Foundation responded almost immediately to the rescue effort.
