Her Instagram post says, “This guy passed away today. Thank you to everyone who has sent so many goodies, doggy treats, toys, clothes, paintings, stuffed animals, and everything else over the years. He loved being famous and getting recognized, especially without me. So many people loved him, and I really appreciate that and so did he.”

Fans and friends pour their love and support for Chelsea during this time. Animal Planet tweeting, “Sending our thoughts to @chelseahandler following the loss of her beloved @chunkhandler. We loved having him as a scout for last year’s Puppy Bowl. You’ll be missed, pup. ❤️❤️❤️”

Handler rescued Chunk, a German Shepherd-Chow mix, in 2009 from a kill shelter when he was 9. He was with her everywhere she went – her dressing rooms, her talk show, and by her side when she was home.

Chelsea even says in one of her posts that Chunky loved her more than he loved brand new tennis balls. But her favorite memory of him was, “…when I was paddle boarding on the Hudson River in upstate NY and he was following me on the shoreline by the trees, and finally jumped in and swam a quarter of a mile to get on my paddle board with me. I cried that day at how much he loved me.”

When Chelsea had to be away from him, her team would send her daily photos of Chunk so she always felt connected to him.

Chunk was losing his hearing and had to wear special doggy shoes so he wouldn’t slip while getting up. But Handler’s love was enough for this adorable fluffy doggy during his final years. She would regularly call him her “man”, “hubby”, and “son.”
