Meet Flynn, the winner of the 2018 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Isn’t he adorable? Flynn won the Best in Show, the highest honor.  He is America’s top dog after winning over 2,882 canine competitors for over 200 breeds. Flynn took home the top award after getting first place in the non-sporting group.

At the Westminister Dog Show, canines can compete in the following seven categories: sporting, hound, working, terrier, toy, non-sporting, and herding. The adorable Flynn is the first Bichon Frise to be named Best in Show since 2001.

It feels a little unreal,” said Bill McFadden, Flynn’s handler. “I came in expecting nothing and just hoping for a good performance, and I think I got it.” McFadden says he thinks this will be Flynn’s last year competing at the Westminster Dog Show as Flynn plans to retire after turning 6 years old next month.

McFadden has turned many dogs into champions, including the 2003 Best in Show – Mick, the Kerry Blue Terrier. Each winner must to be at the top of his doggie game. Fluffy Flynn prepared for the big show with a fresh bath and two hours of grooming. McFadden said this pampering therapy calms Flynn and is something all of the dogs enjoy.

Judge Betty-Anne Stenmark praised Flynn’s expression, eyes and continuously wagging tail. “When I put my hands on that little dog,” she said, “he sold himself to me.”
