As huge fans of Wes Anderson’s symmetrical storytelling, we’ve been anticipating the release of the animated film Isle of Dogs for a while. With the opening date nearing, one theater in San Francisco has planned a very special screening where real dogs are invited!

The Roxie Theater has planned a BYOD (bring your own dog) screening that is happening on March 19. From the theater’s official release:

“This is a BYOD event! Dogs are invited and will be in attendance at this screening. Dogs and owners will each require a ticket to attend. You do not need to have/bring a dog to attend. Owners are responsible for their dog’s behavior. Overly aggressive or uncontrollable dogs will be asked to leave.”

While passes for the dog-friendly March 19 screening have sold out, a wait list exists. But if you weren’t able to snatch a ticket for you and your pup, don’t despair; the theater is planning to host an encore BYOD event to benefit a local animal charity very soon. Paws up to that!

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if other theaters would follow suit. Do you think your dog would sit through or sleep through a screening?
