Louis Vuitton isn’t the only French luxury house catering to chic chiens. With their origin story dating back to 1792, Goyard has a rich history in trunk making. Goyard began making products for dogs in 1890 with their “Chic du Chien” range.

Picture the decadent Belle-Époque period in Paris; illustrated advertisements proclaimed “The chicest dogs wear Goyard”. Wardrobe trunks, fancy leashes, carefully crafted collars, and grooming kits for dogs, cats, and even monkeys(!) were all part of the over-the-top pet collection.

Over 100 years later, in 2008, Goyard opened a boutique solely devoted to “Chic du Chien” – located across from their flagship store in Pairs.

The brand’s pet items have certainly stood the test of time. The popular “Hulot” style bag, named after Robert Goyard’s own beloved dog, is still around today. Designed to tote small animals, this style remains popular with modern pet owners.

While Goyard pricing is nearly on par with Louis Vuitton, their items are exceedingly more rare. One place you can look is Bergdorf Goodman, as they celebrate the Year of the Dog with Goyard pet accessories. Fans trying to get their hands on leashes, collars, pet bowls, and more, can order through the New York department store.

One of the brand’s most alluring details is their personalization options. The monogram trunks you see in paparazzi shots of celebrities at airports? They are very often Goyard!

Choose the pattern you love, the “motif” (striping), main and secondary colors, then provide your initials, for a completely customized piece that is timeless.

One of the world’s chicest cats, Fa-raon, a cat concierge at the luxury hotel Le Bristol in Paris, was given Goyard gifts for his birthday. Of course – what to get the cat who has everything!?
