Get to know the Lost & Found clothing store / coffee shop owner
By the Get Leashed Doggy Style team
When we began profiling specialty shop owners who bring their dog to work, there was one shop that we couldn’t leave out.
Lost & Found, located on the Ossington strip in Toronto, carries goods and clothing for men of style. There’s a casual feel to their clothing selection, but make no mistake; if you’re looking to be the best-dressed dude at a semi-formal function, you can find your whole outfit here.
As far as courteous shop owners go, Jonathan Elias wears the crown. He’s stellar at remembering names – the pinnacle skill for working in his industry – and can pick out an item for you that you’d swear is exactly what you were looking for, even when you weren’t looking for anything.
Jonathan’s charm extends to his pup, Radar, a Jack Russell with split personalities. Radar is the cutest dog you’ll ever meet—or he’s the meanest little pup in the world. He’s both, really. But regardless of whether he’s greeting you with a friendly lick or gnashing his teeth with a growl, he’s Jonathan’s good buddy and just wants to protect him with all of his fifteen pounds of furry, terrifying muscle.
We’ll let Jonathan tell you more about Lost & Found and life with Radar…
Tell us about yourself and your job:
Well my job is essentially working at lost & found. We’re a clothing store with an in house coffee shop. We’re a pretty small team so the day to day events are always different. From buying and sourcing new brands to making coffees. We essentially all do everything. Its definitely more a family environment at the shop as we are all very close. Being able to do what you love on a daily basis is a blessing and what life should be all about. Choose a passion, love what you do and you couldn’t be happier.
A bit about your pet:
My dog’s name is Radar. He is a mix of Jack Russell and something else. He’s a rescue pup so we never truly found out the breed. Why does he suits my personality? Because he’s pretty much is as crazy as I am.
What does your ideal weekend look like?
I usually work Saturdays, so Sundays are spent playing basketball in the mornings, brunch at Union restaurant right after and then usually going for a walk around the city. We’re also big fans of Rhum Bar so we end up there quite frequently as well.
Describe your personal style:
I would say just classic menswer. I’m attracted to historied brands so I would say that my style is pretty basic.
What inspires you?
People. Brilliant, talented, passionate people. This is usually my main source of inspiration.
How would you describe the look and feel of Lost & Found?
The shop is definitely an extension of all of us that work there. When you come by it has a very relaxed feel so you feel comfortable the minute that you step in. We’ve always wanted to have that community vibe to our shop where it feels very inviting.
A story about your pet:
I think I would say the first day I met Radar I knew he had to come home with me. Between all the craziness and insanity that was Radar, I could see a dog just begging to be loved and there was no way I could say no to him. He had too hard of a life and he deserved the best.
