This brother & sister team bring beautiful design to life!
By the Get Leashed Doggy Style team
It’s widely known that the real estate market in Toronto is booming. Neighborhoods that were once nothing special are becoming increasingly gentrified and beautified, while the neighborhoods that have been sought after for generations are transforming into more modern, state of the art living communities. Luca and Natasha, the brother / sister team behind Urban Blueprint, have created quite a name for themselves in this city of real estate design demanding something authentic, unique and fresh.
Get Leashed visited Natasha and Luca at one of the homes they’ve recently finished developing and needless to say, we were blown away. Each line and curve of this modern yet classically designed home seems like it was considered and reconsidered until it was just right – and by just right we mean the eye finds something appealing no matter the direction you look in. They brought their respective dogs along and these Labs were eager to show off their playful manners. Though they probably won’t heed this advice, we think each house they show should be staged with these pups – they’re the perfect addition to an already beautifully designed home.
Here’s Natasha and Luca to tell us a bit more about Urban Blueprint and their gorgeous dogs…
Tell us about yourselves:
Natasha: I am the Co-Founder of Urban Blueprint, a real estate development and lifestyle company, that helps clients design and build their ideal urban life. I wear multiple hats, but my favorite part of my job is my clients’ excitement as their renovation comes to fruition. I also love the real estate aspect of it. Toronto is such a formidable city with so much opportunity for young professionals. One part of my daily routine is to review all my unanswered emails before bed, so I’m ready to go first thing in the morning.
Luca: My day-to-day role is lead project manager and in-house BCIN qualified designer. If I am not working on design or construction documents I am rarely at my desk. I find it very important to interact with suppliers and be involved in trades in order to ensure that our final product exceeds the expectations of our clients. My favorite part of the job is seeing the design come to life.
A bit about your pets:
Natasha: Auggie is a 3-year old Yellow Labrador. She is very gentle and calm. It’s interesting because the breeder, Apple Meadow Labradors, tries to match owner(s) with a puppy that suits their personality. Auggie’s personality is a great blend of me and my husband.
Luca: Ace is a two-year old Black Labrador. I did lots of research on breeds and felt that a Labrador was very well-rounded and adaptable. He comes to work with me every day and loves riding in the truck.
What does your ideal weekend look like?
Natasha: My ideal weekend is spent with my family—going for long walks, visiting Withrow or Riverdale Park, picking up groceries, hanging out. Pure family time.
Luca: An ideal Saturday involves a morning coffee and a walk down the Beltline Trail to Evergreen Brickworks, followed by some shopping and dinner with family and friends.
Describe your personal style:
Natasha: Comfortable with a twist of fun by playing with accessories. I’m walking our job sites every day, so a great pair of flats is a must.
Luca: I gravitate towards simplicity.
What inspires you?
Natasha: My Mom and Dad. They are excellent role models who instilled values of hard work in my brother and I growing up, raising us to believe you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take – we don’t want to miss those shots.
Luca: Travel. I gain lots of inspiration for my work from visiting different cities around the world.
How would you describe the look and feel of your home?
Natasha: Before getting married, my style was much more feminine and glam. Now, our style tends to be more simplistic with warmer elements, so nothing is overly precious or non-functional, and guests feel like they can put their feet up.
Luca: I renovated my condo to suit my character. It is contemporary with industrial elements.
Share a pet story:
Natasha: My Nonna is 90 years old and fell this past winter, resulting in a broken femur. She spent over a month at Bridgepoint Rehabilitation Hospital. Auggie and I would walk over every morning to have breakfast with her. The joy that Auggie brought to the patients at the hospital sums up her character. She is a very loyal and caring dog. To me, she is one-of-a-kind.
Luca: I trained Ace to sleep on his own bed, but every morning when I wake up, his big head is planted next to me on the pillow. He might not look like it, but he’s a big baby.
