Style in the City: Venice Beach, CA

The laidback, sunny style of dog-loving women in Venice Beach, California

By Nicole Simone

Venice Beach was founded as a turn-of-the-century resort town, but has since blossomed into a hectic, eclectic town in its own right, filled with colorful characters living the boho Cali life. Street performers and artists rub shoulders with tourists and pretty young things checking out the scene, but what everyone has in common is a love of the ocean – and this is reflected in the fashion everywhere you look. Girls in crop tops and colorful velvet dresses float along the boardwalk, sporting one-piece bathing suits from emerging designers like “Yes” by Leilanni underneath.

Dogs can get in on the beachy vibe too, with a Bohemian Rhapsody collar from TheModDog and an ombré hemp leash from GypsyDog. The Origami bed by Jax and Bones gives a total beach feel to your living room, while their “business buddy” is a chic way to help take care of your dog’s, ahem, needs. When out on the town, stop by the famous Rose Cafe & Market to grab brunch with your dog, slip on your Warby Parker glasses, and wile away an afternoon taking in the nonstop parade of zaniness that is Venice Beach.
