SPICE UP YOUR LIFE!

2016 will mark the 20th anniversary of the release of Wannabe and regardless of your age, it’s time to get out that hairbrush and sing into the mirror! Spice was the debut, full-length album from the Spice Girls and was originally released in 1996. To get an early jump on the celebration, the re-release is already popping up in vinyl. The Spice Girls have sold over 80 million records worldwide, making them the best-selling female group of all time, one of the best-selling pop groups of all time, and the biggest British pop phenomenon since Beatlemania. With over 85 million records sold, if you don’t already have this LP in your collection, it’s kind of a 90’s absolute must. Spice Girls fans keep your fingers crossed! Rumor has it that Mel B, Mel C, Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton will reform for a massive international tour in 2016. Unfortunately Victoria Beckham (aka Posh Spice) will not be in tow. Say it isn’t so!

gmfLV-550x720FOR THE URBAN DJ ON THE GO

1996 marked the 100th anniversary of the Louis Vuitton LV Monogram and Helmut Lang kicked off the launch with a record case presented by Grand Master Flash. This mini-trunk was designed to hold up to 70 albums, with a separate compartment for CDs and whatever other accessories you needed to pump up the bass at the next party.

“Music is a great inspiration for my work,” Helmut Lang explained, “and club culture is the place in the last five years.” He says he spent about half a year working on the design, with its unpolished metal and antique hardware. It’s “a pared down, masculine piece,” he added.  Only a lucky few of Vuitton’s celebrity customers were given cases: John Travolta, Johnny Depp, Chrissie Hynde, Courtney Love and the hip-hop producer, Frankie Knuckles. The Louis Vuitton DJ Case is highly collectible and is on the wish-list of many around the globe.

Discover more about the century-long relationship between LV and music at the “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez – Louis Vuitton” Exhibition, on now at the Grand Palais in Paris until February 21st, 2016.

PUT THE NEEDLE ON THE RECORD

electrohome-signature-retro-hi-fi-stereo-system - Get Leashed MagWith vinyl making a strong comeback these days, the market is beginning to flood with retro/vintage-inspired turntables. Our heart fell on this amazing record player by Electrohome. This multi-purpose unit looks like it came from Grandma’s house and plays vinyl records/CDs, has an AM/FM radio, plays MP3s through USB and includes a 3.5mm auxiliary input for music from your iPhone, iPad, Android or any other smartphone or tablet. The authentic, real wood cabinetry in deep walnut makes this player a real solid piece. We also love how easily you can convert your vinyl LPs to MP3s through a built-in USB port without connecting to a computer. The fully automatic belt-driven turntable spins 7, 10, and 12-inch records at three speeds of 33 1/3, 45 and 79 RPMs. We also love that it comes with a remote control as well. Whether you’re an audiophile or not, at this price point, this record player is an awesome steal and delivers some pretty kick-ass sound that is true to hi-fi.
