Please tell us about yourself:

I am a full-time Barber and I run my own business out of a private studio in the heart of downtown Toronto. Giving my clients a fresh cut and knowing they feel and look fresh when they leave the studio makes my day. Interacting with new and familiar faces, having “barber talk” is always awesome. Having Luigi (my French bulldog) with me in the studio is also great as he is very popular amongst my clientele. My daily routine when I’m working is to always start with good tunes playing in the background, do a sweep through the space and make sure everything is ready for the day ahead.

A bit about your pet:

Luigi is a French bulldog. I got him 4 years ago, as I have had Frenchies for about the past 10 years. I wanted a dog of my own and there wasn’t any other breed I could think of getting except a Frenchie. I came across him and his brother, Hugo (who is my mom’s dog), from a breeder in Caledon, Ontario. When I saw his picture I knew before meeting him he was definitely going to be my little man. Luigi’s personality is one of a kind. He is a rebel at heart but super chill and easy going.

What does your ideal weekend look like?

My weekends vary, but for the most part Luigi and I take our morning stroll through the neighborhood – I’ll grab a Starbucks and listen to tunes while we walk. I work on Saturdays, but in the evening I could be having a chill evening in with friends or by myself. I might head out for dinner or even hit up a dance floor.
I love photography. It is one of my main hobbies so I do spend a bit of time shooting and/or editing new work in the studio. Sundays I spend some time with my mom. When we get together it usually involves shopping, brunch, checking out what’s happening in Toronto or I bring Luigi to her house and he and his brother Hugo spend the day hanging out while we catch up.

Describe your personal style:

Black on black everything with a kick of color. I like it simple, crisp and fashionable.

What inspires you?

I strive to be different and keep it that way. Every day is a new day and shouldn’t be taken for granted, therefore I do my best to be the best me I can be.

How would you describe the look and feel of your space?

My space is open concept, with lots to look at. It’s a raw, rustic loft space – a live/work environment, which allows me to have all I need in one place. I like my space clean and organized, and I would say it is a very warm and welcoming environment.

A story about Luigi:

Luigi is exactly what I needed in my life at the time I got him. He is independent, but also my right-hand man. When we are hanging out or he is in the loft with me while I work, he is always a few feet away from me — if not sitting on the lap of one of his favorite clients. One of my favorite times with him is when we come back from a walk and I take his leash off, he will bolt down the hall ahead of me like a rabbit, at which point I usually hide out of his view and he goes stir crazy trying to find me. I laugh when his eyes bulge out of his head; he’s a crazy guy in all the right ways. Our connection has been real since day one and I couldn’t imagine another little buddy in my life other than him.
