Get to know the hot young actor with his fiancé Craig & Bob the Corgi
By the Get Leashed Doggy Style Team
Working in the film industry is a non-stop hustle; those who survive in it thrive off its fast-paced environment. Denis and his fiancé, Craig, have their hands in just about every facet of the industry – from writing, to directing, to acting – and their go-go-go lifestyle is a badge of honor. In fact, the two of them couldn’t be happier, eagerly filling us in on all their latest projects. When we met up with them for our feature, it was on break from an editing session on Good Friday.
These two are young, happy and in love. They live and breathe film and have found in each other an ideal match. Bob, the perfectly named Corgi, seems to share their vibe and happily prances around their apartment, ready to befriend visitors by showing off his many costumes. The pooch is the perfect accompaniment to these two gents and doubtless provides an extra smile and cuddle on days when the industry inevitably takes its toll.
Read on for more about Denis, his projects, his soon to be husband and their awesome Corgi.
Look for Denis in the feature film by Director X, Across the Line, in Canadian theaters on April 8th!
Please tell us about yourself:
I’m an actor, first and foremost, but I’ve also recently entered the world of filmmaking. I’m also a Barista. My days usually consist of waking up at 4am for work at a VERY well-known coffee chain. Then, as soon as I get home, I put on my screenwriting hat and get to work! No matter how tired I am after a long day, I always try and find time to write. And, of course, I audition.
A bit about your pet:
I have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Bob. I’ve wanted a Corgi since I was 14. I even had the name picked out very early on. I wanted a dog that would make me smile/laugh every single time I looked at him and Corgis fit the bill. It’s the ears and the short length of their paws. Kills me!
What does your ideal weekend look like?
My fiancé, Craig, Bob and I live in Parkdale, so we frequent Sunnyside beach a lot. Bob just adores running on the beach and meeting other dogs. We also love going to the movies and, of course, cozying up at home with Bob and binge-watch TV and movies. And yes, Bob is allowed on the couch with us!
Describe your personal style:
I’m a Chino and t-shirt kinda guy. Or short-sleeved dress shirts.
What inspires you?
It’s a cliché, but life IS short. So I guess the way I live my life is this: if you want something, do everything in your power to get it. I’m very inspired by Gia Milani — she’s a filmmaker as well. I was lucky enough to be in her film All the Wrong Reasons and she inspired me simply by being her own hard-working self. She’s the reason I took the leap into filmmaking.
How would you describe the look and feel of your home?
Very minimal decorations. Our walls are plastered with movies we admire or have worked on (Craig is a film editor). Our furniture is mostly IKEA.
A story about Bob:
Bob loves costumes. I’m actually actively looking for a little closet to put all his costumes in. We just love dressing him up and taking him out on Queen West for walks and gauging people’s reactions. So far, we have: Spongebob Squarepants, Cowboy, Chef, Yoda and Sherlock Holmes.
