Designer Consignment Style With V S P
By Sarah Fisher
In a city filled with dog owners, it’s not uncommon to overhear someone trying on clothes in a shop proclaim “I could wear this to the dog park!” That’s just what the team at V S P loves about their downtown, super chic, dog-loving clientele. The shop even has their own Cavalier King Charles Spaniel holding court over the store. We put V S P to task to pull together three unique looks to take you through the dog park season in style.
About the shop
V S P is a unique consignment boutique in Toronto’s hip Dundas West stretch (with online offerings as well), filled with immaculate designer finds. Stepping into the white, airy space, the vibe is much more boutique than consignment, with standout pieces like the Valentino Garavani Rockstud Psychedelic Camouflage clutch, a Jimmy Choo backpack, and countless Celine bags. The shoe wall is a vision in its own right, with pristine stilettos ripe for the picking, as well as funky sneakers and fashionable flats.
Owner, Britt, and her team pulled together three looks for Get Leashed girls to hit the dog park in style this season, intersecting fashion and function. Choose your persona or take styling notes from each look below:
The cool girl
Poop bags in a brown and cream Celine bag? Why not. For girls with a lot of gear in tow, opt for the larger chain strap Celine bag.
A straight, skinny Celine jean in a classic medium blue wash will lay the perfect foundation for tons of dressed up or down outfit choices. Paired with an Ulla Johnson woven sweater, the look is cool and easy, while being more scratch-proof than other delicate knits.
A tan leather ankle boot–this pair is by Rachel Comey–with a stacked heel gives you some extra height while still providing some solid footing for sand, grass, or gravel.
The fashion girl
We’re going to come out and say it: if there’s one piece we’d run away with, it would be these gold Tabitha Simmons boots. If you subscribe to the Rachel Zoe mantra ‘Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak,’ then these definitely fit the bill.
Worn with a blue slouch skinny jean from R13–a luxury denim brand you need to take note of–this look elevates your basic jean and boot game.
A super smart red Calvin Klein satchel is large enough to hold your essentials and more, while still small enough to let you and your pup run and roam with ease.
We love layers, especially for those days when your dog is just begging to be chased, so the pairing of a silk-trimmed Celine Henley in olive green with this stunning, sand-coloured, asymmetric Helmut Lang leather jacket, is basically what we want to live in now.
The funky girl
If you’re a style risk-taker who is used to fellow dog park pals asking you about your eclectic wardrobe, this look is for you.
The Junya Watanabe wide crop khaki trouser is a far cry from the ubiquitous yoga pants or leggings you may tire of seeing out and about.
An oversized Dries Van Noten silk-like overcoat gives flowy comfort with high style points.
As we recently covered in NEED WANT HAVE, high top, high fashion sneakers are having a huge moment, and we are full-blown obsessed with this pair by Common Projects.
This Marni bag is bold, and can easily be wiped (drooling dogs, rejoice), but if you’re a hands free kind of gal, what’s more chic than a black Prada fanny pack?
