Inside The PR Agency’s New Dog-Friendly Office
By The Get Leashed Doggy Style Team
Rock-It promotions is one of Canada’s coolest PR firms. An element we totally feel has contributed to their success, has been their pet-friendly policy from day one. We’ve met one of the Rock-It pups before, Blondie, who you may recognize from one of our fav accessories brands, Hound Collection‘s Instagram. So when we got an invitation to check out their brand new, carefully designed office in Toronto, we happily accepted. Read on as founder Debra Goldblatt-Sadowski describes the #rockitpromopups and lets us in on the agency’s most loved pet products.
Please tell us about what your company does, a bit about some of your clients and what a typical day in the office is like:
rock-it promotions is a full service public relations firm that specializes in lifestyle clients. Some of our current roster include Adidas, Etsy, Club Med, Redken, The JUNO Awards and The Broadview Hotel to name just a few. We also have a social influencer division, Fourth Floor Management, which represents high level influencers and creates bespoke social campaigns for brands across the country.
Congrats on moving to a new space! How would you describe your office style and vibe?
We brought in interior designer Ali Budd Interiors who took our combined staff vision and created a space that is visually appealing – modern, clean – and efficient. The design is very warm and a bit rock and roll. We went with a black and white palate with accents of color in the detailing. Amazing light fixtures, gorgeous eat-in kitchen, a showroom with a custom marble island, neon sign with our hashtag (#werockit). It’s the details that really speak to who we are.
Has your office always been pet-friendly? Is this important to the culture for your team or clients?
Our office has been pet friendly since 2009 when we moved into our first official office space. It is really important to me and the culture of our office to be pet-friendly. Having dogs in the office helps reduce stress, boost company morale and helps create work/life balance for our staff who have pets. One day I’d love to have a daycare for staff with children. That’s always been a dream of mine.
How do you think being-dog friendly improves or adds to your company?
It adds positivity and creativity in my opinion. It’s hard not to be happy when you see those furry adorable faces come over for a cuddle.
Who are the pups that usually come to the office?
Our office regulars include Blondie the Bulldog (@blondiethebullpig), Chloe (@lifeofchloe), Coco, Bridget, Lucy and Victor. On any given day we have anywhere from two to five dogs. We have had so many dogs over the years that we started our own hashtag. You can check them out on Instagram #rockitpromopups.
Your team always has a finger on the pulse of what’s cool. Do you have any favorite dog brands or products?
Blondie loves the cool accessories from Hound Collection and Pipoli for their teepees (so cute!). Our rock-it pup mammas also love The Dog Bowl, which carry natural, eco-friendly products and The Bone House who specialize in raw feeding, organic treats. Lucy loves Crumps sweet potato chews and her Canada Pooch outerwear. We also have a Casper Dog Bed for our pups to lounge around on which they love. An Etsy shop we love is Greetings from Luna who made a custom portrait of Blondie.
Finally, can you leave us with a funny story (or two) about one of the pups of Rock-It?
The dogs in the office always follow me around and get pretty excited when I come into the office. I sneak them treats and give them a lot of scratches and snuggles. I’ve known Blondie since birth and she gives me life when I see her (even if she still nips at my ankles), and Chloe is the one most likely to fall asleep in my office and keep me company. I wouldn’t want our office to be any other way.
