The Psychic Medium & Soul Coach With Her Cats Petals & Smudge
By The Get Leashed Doggy Style Team
Do your pets sense when you’re having a bad day? Do you feel connected to them even though you can’t read what they’re thinking? For gifted intuitive Michelle Armstrong, who has lived in Australia, LA, and now just outside of Toronto, and has clients all over the world, pets are natural healers. She believes animals raise energy levels and can positively impact our homes and lives in many ways. We met Michelle in her home with her two adopted, inseparable kitties, Petals and Smudge, to find out what a pet reading entails, tips for improving energy in our lives, and to find out what a day in the life of a medium is like!
Wow, we have been so looking forward to meeting you! Please tell us about yourself, your unique profession, and what a typical work day is like for you:
I wear several hats. I am a Soul Coach, Gifted Intuitive, Psychic Medium, Best selling author and a Personal Trainer specializing in women’s health, happiness, wellness and fitness. My work is my passion and I love what I do. For the last 15 plus years I have helped thousands around the world awaken to their purpose and potential and live their best life. I am deeply spiritual and believe my work as a medium and intuitive is a gift from God to bring love, light and healing to our world.
I am also a single mom which, is my most challenging and rewarding role to date. Being a mom is a privilege and an honor. My son (who is now 8 ) has positively changed my life. Every day he inspires me to do better, be better and live better. He is a big ray of sunshine that ignites a light inside everyone he meets. He is also a daily reminder to me of the power of unconditional love.
An average day for me involves waking up around 5:30/6am and setting my intentions for the day. I pray for guidance, protection and strength and express my gratitude for this incredible life I get to live. The next few hours are dedicated to my son and my two kitties. I feed my kitties first or they get grumpy, my son and I next and then it’s a mad scramble to get us both dressed and out the door for school. After drop-off I usually make a ton of phone calls both work and personal. Then it’s time for my work day which includes readings, coaching calls and managing my social media. I always set aside an hour of my day to get in a work out. Sometimes this involves being at the gym, other times I only have an enough time to get in a power walk or 20-minute HIIT workout.
Around 3:30pm I pick up my son and then it’s all about being a mom and focusing on his needs (homework, after school activities) until bed time. Once my little guy is asleep I catch up on emails, write my clients’ coaching plans, finish any articles I have to write, pay bills and reset my house for the next day. I close my day with a cleansing shower, meditation and pray for my clients and family before falling asleep with my two beautiful furballs curled up beside me.
Please tell us a bit about your kitties. How did they come into your life? Is there a story behind their names or their relationship?
My two cats, named Petals and Smudge, are like my second children. I often refer to them as my fur babies or my four-legged children. I have a connection to my animals that is deep and unspoken and I honestly don’t know what I would do without them. They bring me so much joy, peace and comfort.
Both Petals and Smudge came into my life 14 years ago. I had been without any animals in my home for a few years and having grown up with pets all my life felt guided to adopt a kitten. I went to an animal adoption center and saw Petals and Smudge rolled up tight together in a ball in their cage. They are sisters and I knew immediately and intuitively I had to adopt them both.
Petals got her name because she is as beautiful to me as a flower, and Smudge has an adorable smudge of black fur by her nose. The energy of the names just seemed to fit.
What does a pet reading entail? When would you recommend this?
When I began working professionally as a psychic medium and intuitive, it never occurred to me at first that I could do readings for, and on behalf of, animals and well, it just happened one day and I was like wow! This is amazing! I love animals and I am thrilled I can use my gift to help them too.
The way pet readings work is I am able to tune into the energy and emotions of pets through either a photograph or by being in their presence. In many cases I can connect to pets through their owner’s energy. Through this connection I am able to pass on information about their health, personality and what they may be experiencing at the time. For instance I gave a reading to a woman once and was able to share that her pup’s behavior had deteriorated because of the new baby in their house and he wasn’t getting as much attention as he used to. He was feeling jealous and lonely! Plus they had relocated his bed to another part of the house and was feeling confused as to why. My client validated all the messages I shared and was able to make some changes at home so baby AND puppy could be happy.
I can also connect to animals that have crossed over and pass on messages to their living owners from the Other Side. Working with animals in this way is truly amazing. The love they share for their living owners from the Other Side is so beautiful I almost always struggle not to cry when passing on their loving and affirming messages. They make me feel the love they have for their owners and it’s so unconditional and beautiful!
How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style is simple, practical and smart casual. I have two main styles; a smart casual and hopefully approachable look for work that does not involve any ironing whatsoever lol!, and when I am not working, it is all about Lululemon pants and fitness gear because I am either working out at the gym or rolling around in the grass at the park with my son. I only wear high heels if I am speaking at events, on the television or on a hot date! Otherwise I prefer to wear runners, flip or flops or no shoes at all as bare feet help me to ground my energy. But I do confess that I secretly dream about having my own personal stylist. I would love to be able to dedicate more time to fashion.
We love your inviting interior design style. How would you describe the look and feel of your home? What elements are most special to you?
My space is VERY important to me as I am picking on energy around me all the time. I am drawn to clean lines, balance, open concept, white everything if possible and zero clutter. I like to keep things simple. Lots of windows and and natural light is paramount. I also love inspirational messages, positive image and quotes. My house is filled with them to keep my energy positive and my vibration high.
Can you offer any tips to our readers on how to increase positive energy?
There are many tips to increasing positive energy. Here are my top two.
1.Fill your home with positive quotes and messages. Words have energy just like any living thing. Positive words raise our vibration and improve our health. Negative words and messages lower our vibration and cause disease. Post messages in your bathroom, on your fridge, inside your wallet, on your mirrors, everywhere and anywhere you can see them. When you read the message, take a deep inhale and allow the energy of the words to penetrate your aura.
2.Spend as much time outdoors and with animals as possible. Nature and animals are natural energy balancers. Being in the presence of animals and nature will help to naturally cleanse, raise and balance your energy.
How do you think animals add to your home and life?
Animals have a positive impact on our lives like nothing else can. I believe every home can benefit greatly from having a pet. Animals are natural healers. They raise our energy as I mentioned earlier and give us unconditional love. They are such beautiful creatures who are here solely for the purpose of service – to help us human being to be better people and to get through the challenging times in our lives. They raise the energy in our bodies and homes and studies have shown that people who have pets are living longer and are happier people. Animals are deeply spiritual and have an awareness that greatly surpasses ours. We can learn a lot by being in the presence of animals such as stillness, joy, gratitude, forgiveness, being in the moment and unconditional love. People also often feel safer with animals than people. They can be more vulnerable and open which allows for healing to occur on a level that may not otherwise be an option. I can’t say enough about having any animal in your life. They are a gift that keeps on giving.
What does your ideal weekend look like?
Weekends for me are primarily all about family time. It is precious time I get to spend with my son and kitties, connect with friends and take some time for self-care. Weekend activities can vary greatly from going to the movies, hanging out at the park, doing arts and crafts with my son, cleaning the house, getting a mani and pedi, reading a good book, listening to music, or catching up with my family abroad. That being said, there are times when I am speaking or presenting at workshops and events on weekends, but I try to limit to one weekend a month where I can.
What inspires you?
My son inspires me and people who overcome adversity and hard times and become better people for it. Life can be really difficult at times and it takes a very special individual who can turn their challenges and pain into forgiveness, kindness, compassion, generosity, wisdom, creativity and love. I have gone through many tough times in my life and I always look to these people – folks who have gone through worse than I and have turned their lemons into lemonade. It is other people’s stories of fortitude that give me my strength, courage and unwavering ability to want to keep rising higher.
Finally, can you leave us with a funny story about the cats?
One day I decided to switch up my kitties pet food. I was all excited thinking they would love it and reveling into the energy of what a caring and loving cat owner I was. But moments after putting down their bowls I became aware of a weird scratching sound. The sound led me to their bowls where I found them both scraping the floor with their back legs toward their bowls like it was their litter box. They looked absolutely appalled and had also managed to somehow cover their bowls with the little napkins I put underneath them. When I asked “what’s wrong girls?”, they both gave me a meow sound of disgust and bolted out of the kitchen. Suffice to say that particular brand of cat food (which will remain unnamed) has been banished from the house forever. Lol!
