Becoming a parent has been the biggest blessing in my life. I can’t believe how quickly time goes by. I remember when my son was born as if it was yesterday and that was 14 years ago! What would you do if you were told you were having one baby but on the delivery date the doctor told you there’s more than one?

This happened to Jesse, Eleanor Usher’s 2 year old Rottweiler. The proud dog owner only expected Jesse to have five puppies but was surprised when her litter was much bigger. Jessie didn’t have 5 or 7 or even 10 puppies. She gave birth to 15 puppies. Unbelievable!

It’s hard to imagine a dog expecting to give birth to 5 puppies to have their litter turn out to be three times that size. Jessie’s brood is Britain’s second largest litter of puppies after another Rottweiler in 2009 had 18 puppies!

Ian, Usher’s husband, built a makeshift bed where the puppies were sheltered. The couple took turns feeding the puppies throughout the day and night.

“We hadn’t had an ultrasound, because it’s so expensive and I’d been told to expect something between six and eight babies. After the sixth puppy, I was saying: “That’s a good girl, you can stop now, you don’t have to do anymore. But they just kept coming and coming. We didn’t even need to do anything to assist her, they were all just coming out without any need for help. She made it so easy for us. We just thought: ‘Oh my god, when is she going to stop?” Usher told Mail Online.

She says the puppies fight with one another so there is lots of noise during the day and and for the first couple of weeks, she couldn’t get close to the puppies because Jessie was very protective and refused to let anyone else feed her litter.
