Someone call the firefighters! No, wait, they’re the reason why it’s getting a little steamy on Instagram with their account @australianfirefighterscalendar. Risqué Firefighter calendars aren’t a new phenomenon. Hell, there’s probably a 65-year-old man somewhere still clinging onto his “Mr. February” title still. After much googling of “history of firefighter calendars”, I found that Firefighter Calendars have been a tradition since 1993 in Australia in support of the Children’s Hospital Foundation. Now we all know that hot people calendars have been and still are a thing.

You’d think that with our smart phones that can recognize our face and voices, we’d get rid of the need of paper calendars, but nope. We buy them. At my local Chinese supermarkets, they give away calendars with your purchase!

Just like any other commodity, the market knows just what people are looking for and what sells. Surprise, surprise, scantily clad anyone (mostly men, though) have had their hold on the market for best-selling calendars.

The other popular commodity? Puppy photos. You combine the two and BAM, you’ve hit a goldmine. Why else would @australianfirefighterscalendar have almost 32 thousand followers and the firefighters would appear on talk shows shirtless and puppies in hand?
