If you’ve ever owned a dog, odds are you’ve overspent on pet proofing. Or splurged on making them look and feel special. It’s a wonder why more auto manufacturers aren’t catering to the booming affluent pet market.

Launched in concert with Chinese New Year, Land Rover reveals its new range of “pet packs” designed to make life with canine companions much more clean, fresh and stylish. The move comes right after the launch of the Landy & Rover campaign, Landy and Rover being two expedition-ready dogs who demonstrate the new features rather well and without bias to small, “not traditionally sporty” breeds. No one puts this scrappy terrier in a corner.

The company leads the luxury SUV category in catering to pet parents with specially designed pet themed upgrade packs. The pet pack is a two-piece kit that includes both a full-height partition for the cargo area, as well as either a rubber mat or a liner tray. Your spacious cargo hold can now be saved from wet paws with precision fit protection, custom made for Land Rover. The waterproof mat covers the carpet on the load space floor, while the liner tray has a raised lip on three sites to cover both the floor and side wall carpets. No reason to regret your little one getting all “dogged up”; they won’t muck up the car’s luxurious leathers.

No one likes to say this in polite company (aka marketing meetings), but dogs are filthy, smelly animals. While noble and lovable in character, physically speaking, certain overly drooling and shedding breeds simply wreck havoc on luxury goods. From Porsche to Pucci, Pomeranians don’t care about satin or matte leather finishes. Moreover, a $660 splurge on the pet pack is probably less expensive than whatever it costs to professionally replace or clean mud out of the leather.

The second element of the pet pack, and another way to make the most of your load space while protecting your vehicle, is the full height partition. This easily fitted accessory keeps your pet safe in the back of your vehicle while preventing muddy paws from clambering into the passenger seats and making undesirable tears and stains. The smartly designed partition also enables owners to separate the load space into two sections.
