Make This Year The Best Year For You And Your Dog
By Catalina Barrios
At the end of the year we always make a list of what we want to hopefully accomplish in the New Year. Losing weight and saving money have been among my New Year’s resolutions for the past couple of years.
We are thankful for the year that passed and look forward to what the New Year will bring, but there is something we always miss to include among our New Year’s resolutions: our dogs.
Yes, our dogs! We love them so much but we tend to forget to include them in our resolutions, so let’s focus on what we could be doing for our dogs this year to help them have the healthy, happy life they deserve.
Here are 10 things every dog owner should consider for the New Year:
Dogs Need To Stay Safe – Update your Dog’s Id info
A lot of things can change over the course of a year. You may move, change phone numbers, start a new job, or welcome a baby. The last thing we remember to update whenever there is a change in our lives, is our dog’s ID info. It can be quickly updated and we will have the peace of mind of knowing that if they were to get lost, they can come home safely.
2. Dogs Have Healthy Weight Goals Too – Measure Your Dog’s Food
We learn from our mistakes. I used to give my dog his food without measuring it until his vet told me not to because he may become obese. He said it is important to use an 8-ounce measuring cup to ensure your dog isn’t taking in more calories than he/she needs. Be sure to talk to your vet about your dog’s activity level, age, and history.
